Do you need a new
roof?
It can be difficult to determine whether a new roof is
necessary. Here are a few handy tips to see if you need our help:
Loose nails.
A loose nail creates an open hole, which can cause leaks and
subsequent water damage to your roof.
Exposed nails. This could lead to leaks in your
roof as the water collects around the head of the exposed nails.
Dark patches on roof. This could be mould. It could also be
caused by trees dripping on one place and gradually discolouring the
tiles or slates. If you see dark patches, check the interior for
dark or discoloured drywall or other evidence of a leak.
Overflowing gutters or excess water running down to
the brickwork or dripping into the foundation of the house.
Blistered coating on a flat roof. You can fix these
yourself, pop the blisters and coat them with roofing cement to
prevent further damage.
Broken, loose, curled or split slates or tiles.
There's no way around it, you probably need to call us. If you
decide to do it yourself then be careful where you walk on the roof.
You could cause more damage than you originally started with. |
